I was deeply saddened by the awful display of comments directed at Rush Limbaugh after he passed away. I thought about including some within this piece, but decided it's not worth it. This is not a platform for hate and division, and we will not give such people a podium. It's quite clear to me probably 99% of the individuals articulating such vile comments were not patrons of the program.

The same people demanding unity included "Good Riddance, Rot in Hell, and Rest in Piss," on Twitter with Rush's name. Both sides of the aisle have some awful people - who we condemn in their entirety - but when Ruth Bader Ginsburg died, Republicans did not drag her name through the mud, and celebrated her life for the amazing feats she accomplished and barriers she broke.

I articulated in an earlier piece that I in-fact have a PHD in the study of fun, and I believe many of these people making such awful comments do so because they have never really experienced true joy. Based off of some of the comments I read through, some of these people really need help. I refuse to accept the hatred that has festered itself in places like Twitter is a vast representation of our society. I firmly believe there is good in everybody, and we cannot turn our back on people exhibiting such behavior - we need do to the best we can to bring people together.

Left, right, or center - I hope for the good of our nation and the world we can put politics aside and see the goodness in each other. Some days I feel down when I see such poor behavior, but I am reminded by all the virtuous acts I have been witness too. Life is too precious and beautiful to be consumed by hate. Jesus taught us to "turn the other cheek," but I feel in doing so I should also extend a hand and ask if we can be friends. Before Rush passed away he told us, "I love you from the bottom of my sizable and growing and still-beating heart. And there's room for much more love - because I have learned what love really is." I have plenty of room in my heart for you, do you have room in yours for me?
