I used to believe we were heading towards a political crisis, I now know we are in one. So much has transpired it's almost hard to keep track of everything. It's amazing to me the amount of blatant censorship occurring on social media, coupled with the mainstream news not covering any of the Trump legal suits - dismissing them as just conspiracies. Unfortunately, many people do not consume news outside of the mainstream media, and part of me understands why - it should not be so hard to get accurate depictions of what is going on in the world, but it is.
Instagram went as far as slapping a label on a post by President Trump concerning a tribute to Pearl Harbor, giving it the "Joe Biden is the projected winner of the 2020 US Presidential Election. (Sources: Reuters/NEP/Edison, others)" stamp. Funny how they still use the word "projected," even though they "called" the race ages ago. I hate to be the bringer of bad news to the media, but the people decide the President by merit of the powers vested to them in the Constitution. If you have not read any of the Federalist Papers by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay, I highly recommend them. They are essentially a collection of eighty-five essays written under the pseudonym Publius, arguing for the ratification of the Constitution. In essay sixty-eight Hamilton rightly anticipated our current predicament with a solution if massive cheating or fraud were to be uncovered. In essence, the power to send individuals to the Electoral College is given to the State Legislators to certify in the event they are convinced the vote was not accurate. A candidate is also able to bring law suits against states to the Supreme Court - take Pennsylvania for example. Only the legislator has the power to change voting practices, however the governor unilaterally changed the methodology, which ultimately violates the law. It's also entirely possibly the Congress could decide the President.
A critical aspect in all of the events playing out is the Equal Protection Clause. In the context of election fraud the principle illustrates how one area riddled with voting errors for whatever reason, dampens the vote of individuals in another location in which they had an accurate and lawful vote. The Trump team has the burden of proving beyond a preponderance of doubt that such fraud or cheating occurred, which to anybody that has dug beyond the censorship conducted by Mark Zuckerberg, Jack Dorsey, and all the other elitists figureheads, it should be pretty obvious. A Biden victory defies all logic as the statistical anomalies concur he is one of two things - the greatest politician in the history of the world or a cheater - and I think the ladder is more accurate. In his first race as President (this is his third attempt) he dropped out due to plagiarizing, so why would he change his ways now?
Another thing that sickens me and I started to get into it above - Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook), Jack Dorsey (Twitter), and Jeff Bezos (Amazon/Washington Post). We must ask the question, why are these three billionaires working overtime to censor anything election related posted by a Republican? Were they not invited to any parties in college? With their current conduct, I can assure you none of them would have ended up in my apartment. All three of these men have succeeded in the most remarkable way, and as Uncle Ben articulates in the movie Spiderman, "With great power comes great responsibility." I would say these men abused their power, and it really is a tragedy of epic proportions.
Take a look at the people in the media. I can assure you all the people you see on your television have a very healthy salary. Not to put all of them down, because some good people do work in the media, but they are by-and-large out of touch with reality. Grant Stinchfield on Newsmax TV is one of the few good ones remaining, and he had Angela Marsden, the owner of Pineapple Hill Saloon & Grill, on as a guest. She seemed ready to cry out of despair for the lockdowns imposed on the people of Los Angelas. She invested tens of thousands into outdoor dining, but they closed all restaurants and hair/nail salons, while the movie theater and shopping mall across the street got to stay open. Mayor Garcetti said, "We need to cancel everything," so why are is he only picking on small businesses? The reality is none of these people in the media and most in politics cannot relate to the plight of everyday working class people.
I am not downplaying the virus, but we should be able to have common sense policies and none of these illogical guidelines continuously being produced. Take Massachusetts for example - 6,889 of 10,763 deaths (just under 2/3rds as of the writing of this piece) have been in nursing homes - or as Howie Carr describes them: Charlie Bakers death houses. Governor Andrew Cuomo in New York is responsible for the same incompetence, and I want to know - will these people ever be held accountable for virtue signaling rather than rolling up their sleeves and getting to work?
Ultimately, we are undergoing a period of extreme hardship. In 1932 in his book, The Epic of America, James Truslow Adams wrote "History has concerned itself greatly with forms of government and the records of politicians and parties. These have their place and importance, but more deeply essential is the character of a people." What kind of people will we be as we round the corner into 2021?
