I promised to always be honest with my audience, I did not have the stomach to get past the first five minutes of Joe Biden's State of The Union Address (SOTU). I decided to sit outside on the patio and enjoy some fresh Florida air instead as I write to you. I did however go inside to grab myself a Heineken and caught an additional fleeting minute of his speech. Perhaps most SOTU's delivered by President's are littered with rhetoric that doesn't mean much besides sounding good, and I could tell Joe Biden's wasn't going to be much different from the norm.
Let me ask you a question. Does America feel great to you right now? I likely feel whether you are a Republican or a Democrat, you probably answered no - and I will let you know that I feel like we are currently a country dancing along fragments of broken glass. In the five minutes of Joe Biden's speech I watched, I saw a room filled with career politicians who have created the majority of our problems and polarizing political cultural to the benefit of their own greed. I also find it intriguing that none of the usually loud members I have on social media shared any aspects of the speech.
When I went to grab my beer, Joe was talking about how we're going to have "Made In America" once again on our products. Most people liberal and conservative alike I know are not really fans of his, and I have to ponder how our nation allowed a man who has resided in Washington for five decades and solved nothing, hold the reigns of the free world? We're talking about a man who was the architect of a crime bill that disproportionally impacted minority communities, who was also seen taking photos and mucking it up with Robert Byrd - another Washington swamp monster who was loved by many other creatures of DC, despite the fact that he was a notorious member of the Ku-Klux-Klan (KKK). Why did American corporations leave the United States to begin with? It's because self-serving career politicians like Joe Biden hollowed out our nation for their own benefit.
The first thing Joe said when he walked into the room was, "It feels like I'm home." Washington should not feel that way to any public servant. It was designed to be a place where the most vibrant leaders amongst us go to make our country and the world a better place before residing back to their life before politics. Instead, it has become a den for wolves to nest up as they suck the blood out of America. Killing our wealth, culture, and most importantly the soul of our nation.
It was nice to see Joe dabbing it up with Liz Cheney, who's only in Congress because of her fathers political influence. Talk about a man who has done immense damage to the world by virtue of his war mongering. It was also nice to see Mitch McConnell emotionlessly staring into space. You really have to look like a loser for a person to feel your sense of lifelessness through a mask, while they are sitting on their couch a world away. Mitch, was it worth selling your soul for a career in politics, and a few bucks in your pocket?
Needless to say, I think we are coming to the end of an era. Most of the politicians in the room are comparable to a bag of dust. They have been around for decades mucking it up with lobbyists living the high life. I firmly believe however, America is waking up. Term limits and accountability for politicians must be top of mind for us, and I think these people are clinging to a sliver of hope that the slowly awakening giant will go back to sleep. It's too late - in the words of Joe Biden "America is on the move," just not in the way he thinks. The empty Congressional Chamber filled with fake hollow clapping, will soon be filled with passionate young Democrats and Republicans alike who are charged with life, and want to see this nation succeed. The idea that America is More Than A Nation is an unstoppable tidal wave. Enjoy the last few years of corruption, the next generation is coming.
